Wrestlemania Preview – Nikki Bella & John Cena vs Maryse & The Miz

We’re a culture obsessed with power couples: Jay-Z & Beyoncé, J-Lo & A-Rod, JT & Jessica Biel.

So, when John Cena & Nikki Bella square off against The Miz & Maryse at WrestleMania 33, we will not only be seeing two couples of this variety collide, but also witnessing a knockdown, drag-out, awesome (no pun) melee with a ton of personal pride on the line for both sides, as they attempt to find out who SmackDown LIVE’s “it” couple truly is.

For years, Cena & Nikki did not acknowledge their relationship within WWE arenas. Total Divas or Total Bellas was one thing, SmackDown LIVE was another. However, after two-time Divas Champion Maryse brutally assaulted Nikki with a lead pipe, and Miz and Cena eliminated each other from the WWE Championship No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal, the rules suddenly changed.

With these two conflicts merging, all four Superstars began to rip one another to shreds on the microphone. The Cenation Leader was a guest on “Miz TV” — the perfect time and place to badmouth The A-Lister. Miz followed with an appearance on Talking Smack, which proved to be an excellent opportunity for him to tell the WWE Universe why he believed Cena is a “robot” whose relationship is manufactured for the benefit of reality TV cameras. Fearless Nikki told Maryse to keep her hands off her man; Maryse retorted by calling Nikki Bella a fraud.

In between the smack-talk and these tumultuous physical exchanges, a massive WrestleMania match has been made. Can Cena & Nikki shut up Miz & Maryse once and for all? Or, will The Miz repeat his performance from WrestleMania XXVII, where he retained the WWE Championship over Cena, and push him and his bride to victory?

Find out when these iconic couples square off at WrestleMania, live on the award-winning WWE Network on April 2.

John Cena & Nikki Bella vs. Carmella & James Ellsworth set for SmackDown LIVE next week

John Cena & Nikki Bella will team up in-ring for the first time on SmackDown LIVE next week when they face off against Carmella & James Ellsworth.

The two pairs arrived at a point of conflict backstage last week when The Princess of Staten Island & Ellsworth interrupted the couple as they talked about their recent issues with The Miz & Maryse. The Cenation Leader & Fearless Nikki had no patience for the F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S tandem’s blatant disrespect and challenged them to a Mixed Tag Team Match next week.

What will it look like when Cena and Nikki team up for a historic first time in a WWE ring and will Carmella and Ellsworth have any answers for them? Find out next week on SmackDown LIVE.

Five A-List reasons John Cena should not underestimate The Miz

This Tuesday at 8/7 C on SmackDown LIVE, John Cena is scheduled to be a guest on “Miz TV.” Although there is already a long-standing history between the two Superstars, this appearance in particular has the potential to turn extremely volatile. In addition to the animosity that has already built up from when the two battled as part of the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match several weeks ago, this past week on the blue brand, Cena eliminated The Miz from the 10-Man WWE Title No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal. The A-Lister then snuck back in the ring and returned the favor by eliminating The Leader of the Cenation.

Even their significant others have gotten into the controversy as, on the same night, Miz’s wife Maryse attacked Nikki Bella with pipe during the Fearless Superstar’s Falls Count Anywhere Match against Natalya.

As Cena prepares to step into “The Most Must-See Talk Show in WWE History,” it would be easy for him to take the situation lightly. After all, SmackDown LIVE’s General Manager Daniel Bryan has made several comments that suggest Miz is afraid to get hit. Moreover, Miz likes to talk, a quality that can sometimes be perceived at less than to those perceived as “men of action.” As a man who has built his career on never backing away from any confrontation, Cena would certainly be counted in the latter category.

Nevertheless, the 16-time World Champion should take any threat from The Miz seriously, and here’s why …

What will happen when John Cena comes to “Miz TV” next week?

During the 10-Man WWE Championship No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal on this week’s SmackDown LIVE, John Cena ultimately eliminated The Miz. Not to be outdone, The A-Lister later snuck back into the action and elimination Cena.

Earlier that night, when Miz’s wife Maryse got a little too close to a Falls Count Anywhere Match between Nikki Bella and Natalya, she responded by attacking Cena’s girlfriend with a pipe.

On WWE Talking Smack, it was announced that The Leader of the Cenation will be the special guest on “The Most Must-See Talk Show in WWE History” next Tuesday night at 8/7 C. Considering the turbulent events of the latest episode of the blue brand, the interview will surely be anything but peaceful.

WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match

Come Sunday, Feb. 12, WWE Champion John Cena will be in for a daunting task: Defending SmackDown LIVE’s top crown inside the most savage creation WWE has ever seen, the Elimination Chamber.

Fresh off winning his record-tying 16th World Title, The Champ will compete against the Superstar he defeated for the championship at Royal Rumble, AJ Styles, plus Bray Wyatt, Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose, Baron Corbin and The Miz, live on WWE Network. SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon announced the star-studded lineup on the Jan. 31 edition of SmackDown LIVE.

The infamous Elimination Chamber, with its chain-link walls, glass pods and steel floors, is diabolical to the core, and the rules for the war zone are as twisted as the structure itself.

Two Superstars will start the bout while the remaining four are enclosed in pods. After a regularly scheduled period of time, a pod will open at random, enabling a Superstar to enter the match. This will continue until all six competitors have been released. A Superstar can be eliminated at any time, via pinfall or submission only, and the last man standing will be declared the winner and WWE Champion.

Each challenger is hungry and uniquely qualified to take down The Cenation Leader. Styles wants to reassert himself as “The Champ That Runs the Camp,” and The Lunatic Fringe, who lost the WWE Title to Styles in September, looks to add another championship to his mantel. The Miz insists on being treated as an A-Lister, and winning Team Blue’s top title would support his claim, while a win for Bray Wyatt could strengthen The Wyatt Family’s grip on SmackDown LIVE, given Randy Orton’s eventual title opportunity at WrestleMania. Not to be overlooked is the unbridled brutality of the match’s least experienced, but perhaps most dangerous warrior, The Lone Wolf, who might just feel right at home inside the Chamber.

Which Superstar will navigate the perilous Elimination Chamber Match and emerge victorious? Don’t miss out when SmackDown LIVE presents its next brand-exclusive pay-per-view, WWE Elimination Chamber, live on the award-winning WWE Network Sunday, Feb. 12, at 8 ET/5 PT.
